The NONA brand relies on slow fashion in a fast-paced modern world. It doesn’t recognise seasonal collections, instead focusing on limited editions of sophisticated accessories inspired by Japanese minimalism. Designed in a studio in Rotterdam, the handbags are created in collaboration with a small family-run workshop in Spain that still abounds with a rich tradition of leather craftsmanship and cutting-edge materials.

The brand’s founder Anona van der Linde believes that a handbag should naturally blend in with our bodies, just like a comfortable piece of clothing. That’s why the designers at Studio NONA strive to create handbags that are not only aesthetically unobtrusive, but also enjoyable to wear every day for years. By only creating handbags in a limited core collection, the brand can truly focus on ethical production, avoiding overproduction and wasted resources. The materials used, such as leather from Spain and cotton canvas from France, are carefully selected to minimise the carbon footprint associated with their transportation.

CARE

Suede leather (waxed): suede with a waxed surface, which gives it a distinctive look and natural color variations. Do not expose to direct (sun)light for long periods of time – the color may fade. Store the bag in a dry, dark place, ideally in a protective dust bag. Use brushes and cleaning erasers designed for these types of leather. Before first use, apply a protective spray for suede/nubuck (test on a less visible area first). Repeat approximately every 4–6 weeks if worn frequently. The material is prone to staining, so avoid heavy rain, liquids, pens, and makeup. If the bag gets wet, let it dry naturally (not near a heater or in the sun). If it gets very wet, stuff it with newspaper to help draw out the moisture.
